The XX

So if you haven't taken the time to perk your ears and listen, I hope you take a moment.. The XX .. (said like The X's) are an Atmospheric English Indie pop band. They formed in London in 2005 and released their debut album in August of 2009. The XX recorded their album in a small garage that was part of the XL Recordings studio, often at night, which contributed to the low, whispery nature of the album. Just 60 seconds into the "Intro" song of the XX album I was hooked. "Crystalised" and "Shelter" are also must listens. So ... if you haven't yet, HURRY and take a listen!!!

Sweet Anticipation

Well since my new niece is almost here, the parties have been summoned! We had a great showing at my sisters Winslow shower.
I was so please with how everything turned out. I surprised myself with not only the amount of food but also the quality! We indulged on homemade apricot chutney cheddar balls rolled in crushed walnuts, brie with crackers and fresh fruit, salads of every kind but the adorable birds nest cupcakes stood their ground as the main feature of the banquette table. But while the fondant birds stole our hearts my sister stole the show with her "soon to be mother" glow and of course.....the belly! We are all so excited and remain on our toes until the little one greets us.

Buttons to Rings

What a great idea for those leftover buttons!!

We found a fun new vendor at Apple Hill this year where we spent a massive amount of time and still had to pull ourselves away. There were barrels of buttons that were ripe for the picking. we sifted and sorted, we layered and color matched until we had a one of a kind creation. Once we matched what we thought was the wining ring they are sized and wired to our preference. It's truly a souvenir I can really use and enjoy!!

Apple Hill October 2011

Another Festival to bring the family together! We were able to enjoy another great weekend at Apple Hill outside of Sacramento. We stuffed our faces with fritters and and washed it down with freshly made apple juice with cider for dessert! It's a day we look forward to every year.

We are already excited about our next Apple Festival come 2012 because our family will have grown plus 2! Nikki was about to pop and Rocky was getting used to the fact that soon SHE will be giving the family another little bundle of joy.

Another year down and so many more to enjoy!!

A New Adventure!

So Just recently Jeff and I decided to become small business owners. We are partnering up with my mom and dad and opening a consignment shop where we will be selling new and used furniture and home decor. Its pretty exciting but also VERY scary!!! Doing something neither of us have ever done before is not so easy to all the sudden dive into but I think we are up to the challenge. I'll let ya know the progress..for now though you can check out the blog I've started!
